UNITED BY BIRMINGHAM 2022
On a brisk morning in early March, a group of 30 people, including representatives from 12 of Birmingham 2022's founding projects, joined together, along with Gold Coast Commonwealth Games gold medallist, netballer Ama Agbeze, to help launch United by Birmingham 2022, the community programme for Birmingham 2022.
The day started with a warm-up led by Ama, our programme ambassador, before a lively jog up the canal to litter pick, improving the look of the area, but also making it safer for the local wildlife. At the other end of the five-kilometre run, the crew assembled at the Sense Touchbase Pears centre to learn more about what the centre offers to the community.
The event concluded with a session of chair yoga, an inclusive activity that benefits both physical and mental wellbeing. There was a tremendous sense of community during the launch, with people coming together and learning more about all the founding projects and initiatives and offering to support and help each other. This is the spirit we hope this programme will foster. To give you an idea of what happened on the launch day and to provide a little more information about United by Birmingham 2022, here’s a short video, which shows you just some of the activities that took place.
