In Detail

In order to support the delivery of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Organising Committee is looking for a number of suppliers for a wide range of services in the run up to the Games.

The Organising Committee is currently looking for a supplier to design and manufacture the #B2022 Queen’s Baton.

The Queen’s Baton Relay has been the curtain raiser to the Commonwealth Games since 1958 and is a celebration of all the nations and territories of the Commonwealth. At the heart of the Relay is the Baton; carrying the Queen’s message to athletes. The Baton embodies it’s host country. Previous examples include: Delhi 2010’s coloured by the soils of India; Glasgow 2014’s sculpted from Scottish Elm and containing granite gemstone Gold Coast 2018 highlighting environmental issues through its use of locally reclaimed plastics.

Birmingham 2022 is looking for designers and makers to produce our very own Queen’s Baton. Applications to this tender opportunity are encouraged from new or existing design / fabricator partnerships, as well as companies that may already host both design and fabrication services in-house.

Deadline for the initial stage of application is 12 midday Monday 1 February 2021.
